Head and Neck Program

Head and neck cancer treatment requires a highly specialized approach due to the delicate nature of the area and the serious impact of recurrence on quality of life. At Premier, our physicians have trained and worked at some of the top head and neck programs in the country, including MD Anderson Cancer Center and the University of Florida. Collectively, our team has over three years of specialized head and neck training, with expertise in both proton and photon therapy, including complex base of skull treatments.

Because of this advanced expertise, Premier boasts low rates of feeding tube placement during treatment, as well as minimized taste changes and dry mouth—common issues in head and neck cancer care. Our doctors are particularly meticulous about avoiding the oral cavity, tongue, and major and minor salivary glands during treatment, leading to carefully sculpted outcomes that differ from other centers. Additionally, our nursing staff includes specialists with over 20 years of experience in managing head and neck symptoms and preventing long-term treatment side effects.

Given Premier’s expertise, we are often a preferred partner for ENT, head and neck, and maxillofacial oncologic surgeons. Our team participates in specialized tumor boards twice weekly, coordinating with expert head and neck specialists, surgeons, and other key team members, such as speech and swallow experts, physical and occupational therapists, and gastroenterologists.

Patients from across the country seek out Premier’s specialized care for head and neck treatment, and we take great pride in our ability to coordinate seamlessly with top academic departments and offer access to cutting-edge trials and expert opinions when needed.
